Pics

Well the camera works but the software is still out of commission. Fortunately last time I went home, the family wanted to download photos while I was there a bought me a small USB device that I could plug my card into and download directly off the card. So we have photos to share today. Thanks!

Here is a decent shot of Elle. She's a bit floopy around the top but that will be fixed as soon as I get around to sewing in her zipper. I will do this one day. I swear. She's a good stiff fabric, which I was hoping to get since all the other bags I've made are very soft.

And here is Maria. The picture is rather dark but the color is close. It's a lovely sage. This is only the base of the bag and as she is a product of my imagination she may take a little while to finish. There are too many things I could do with this and I have difficulty decided which I'd like best. I am writing down the instructions as I knit in case anyone out there would care for a copy. I know, it's a bit early to commit just yet. :D

And finally Bjerk. She has been my obsession as of late. This is a close up of the fair isle work that is down near the waistline. I finished the boring stokinette and am up to the fair isle work around the chest now. She's coming along nicely. I had started her a while ago, but then decided I was crappy at fair isle. I took an intermission to make Elle (which is knit in fair isle) and frogged Bjerk to re-do the fair isle. I am very pleased with how the second try went. My tension was all off on the first attempt and the little brown spots in the center of the diamonds didn't show up in more than half of the places it should have. *sigh of content*

Brief Update

For knitting news, Elle is still sitting there waiting to have her zipper sewn in, handles and pocket sewn on, and photo shoot.

Bjerk is coming along nicely. I'm stuck on the plain stockinette stitch body but am nearly to the bit of fair isle that goes across the boobages. Photos soon. I swear!

Knitting, but no Photos

I upgraded my camera software and now can no longer download my pictures. So, while I've been knitting away and have beautiful and wonderful things to share (and yes, even some horrible ugly things too) I can't do so. :(

I have been very busy at work as well and have allowed that to interfere with my blogging, but not my knitting. I finished Elle and have to sew on the handles and the zipper to be complete. I started working on Marions sweater. I LOVE the yarn she picked out. It is wonderful to knit with. And I'm going to have some left over. I may have to make me something with the leftovers. <*cue evil cackle*>

I should be able to start Bjerk now. I feel much more comfortable with fairisle. There are a few rows where I will have to carry three colors and that is a bit tricky but I think I will fare much better this time.

I ordered the new Dale of Norway book (#138) and absolutly fell in love with this sweater. It's totally uninspiring name is Design 2. I'll have to think of a better one when I make her.

Bag Switch

So I decided to switch projects. Especially after the fiasco I had with Bjerk, which I'm not going to talk about. Fair Isle isn't too difficult, however I tend to knit too tight so I decided my first fair isle will be the Elle bag, courtesy of BruxKnits. This nasty brown blob of a photo is the swatch I knitted and felted (something I've never bothered with until this time because I was curious). I've gotten most of the bottom finished and should start into the side of the bag soon. Wish me luck! I really want Bjerk to turn out and am getting too frustrated with the fair isle on size 2 needles.

Hero

My co-workers decided yesterday that we should all be superheros. I became Numchuck Knitter *queue 80s hair band*. I can kung-foo evil doers with my mad numchuck skills. Beware the size 17 circs. Spidy's got nothing on my Web.

On a similar note, Wendy has decided she is a bad-ass knitter. Must be something in the air...

Summer Knitty

Hot town, summer in the knitty... Summer Knitty is out.

Wendy's Story

Wendy has a great story on her blog today. I have become the same way, much to the chagrin of my DH. There is yarn hidden everywhere in the house and I keep starting new felted bags because I need a place to store my current WIPs. I'm sure it could be worse.
